For a single woman lost in a dating maze “should I call him first”? question is not an uncommon to ask. If you have been single for a while and have not been meeting many guys, or have not met a guy who's caught your interest up till now, it is natural to feel excited about this new dating prospect.

And if you have exchanged phone numbers, or if he gave you his number, you may be wondering, should I call him? And here comes the most difficult question of all, should I call him first or should I wait for him to call?

This article will help you decide if you should call a guy first and when you should not call him first.

The most important thing to always remember - if a guy has your number, he will always call you unless you call him first. But what if you have been waiting for a week or two weeks, and he still hasn't called? The hard truth is – he hasn't called because he tossed your business card with that phone number of yours the minute you handed it to him. If the guy took your number and never called, he is either busy (in which case he will call you when he is not busy), he never intended to call you (in which case he never will), or he keeps you 'just in case', meaning that if and when nothing better comes along he may flip through his Rolodex and you may be one of the lucky ones whose name starts with a letter in the beginning of the alphabet.

The only time when you should call a guy first is when you have his number but he doesn't have yours. In this instance, there is no way to get in contact with the guy unless you call him first. Go ahead, dial up and surprise him with that unsolicited phone call because he will be unpleasantly surprised to find out that a woman whose number he never inquired about somehow dug his number, or perhaps even held a gun to his co-worker's head to get this number, and now, who knows what next will come from this stalker! This is what's going on in his mind the minute he answers the phone and you say in that anxious tone of voice, 'hi John! This is Meg; remember we met at Pam and Sam's wedding?' Poor fella immediately starts sweating profusely trying to remember if he got so hammered that he accidentally gave his cell phone number to a woman with whom he exchanged a couple of meaningless phrases with while waiting for his girlfriend to finish her business in the bathroom.

But I don't want you to tell me five years down the road that you've listened to my advice to not call him and because of this you blew your chances to be with the man of your dream; so go ahead and call him first, but remember that if he wanted to hear from you, if he wanted to see you again, if he wanted to date you and have a relationship with you he would have asked for your number!
